Students face off in marketing contest

The world financial crisis is having an impact on many people around the globe, including fresh university graduates in China.

In a blue book issued by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the number of university graduates who will not be able to find jobs this year could reach 1 million out of 6 million across the country. What should students still in school do to prepare for their future? A marketing contest in Bailian New Era Mall may have provided some ideas.

Through the preliminary and semifinal match of showcasing a planning philosophy with no preset and PPT slide-shows, six 6 elite teams emerged out of 240 (1,440 competitors in total). Now these six teams were set for the final marketing battle.

The winner was determined by the highest score based on marks from three judges, all marketing professors, and an open vote. Marks from the judges comprised 70 percent of the total score while the open vote contributed 30 percent to the final score, Wang said.

The organizers were also all university students, thus making the day like a training day for the students involved.
