Shanghai International Studies University (SISU)，founded in December 1949, is a key university under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, P.R.C. and one of the 100 key universities of the State for the 21st century. As a foreign language university committed to providing a variety of applied programs, SISU prepares professionals qualified for roles in international affairs, with expertise in more than one specialty.
SISU is composed of 11 colleges and 1 department, with 26 undergraduate programs, 17 master’s degree programs and 7 doctoral degree programs. SISU, one of the earliest universities accepting international students, began to enroll international students at the end of 1970s. SISU now has a full enrollment of about 600 long-term overseas students, among whom 60% are taking undergraduate programs, Master’s degree programs or Doctoral degree programs. Besides, SISU has an enrollment of over 400 short-term overseas students every year.
